Our Team

Laura Chen - President

Laura is a software engineer, breast cancer survivor, and triathlete. She served on the McDole PTO board as President in the 2023-24 school year, as well as Vice President in the 2025-26 and 2022-23 school years. Laura is married to Jim, and they have two children, Heidi in 5th grade and Harrison in 8th grade. Laura enjoys reading, playing percussion and piano, and cheering on her kids in their sports. This past year, Laura and her family traveled to Taiwan (where Jim grew up), Alaska, Florida, and Boston. Laura is happy to be part of the McDole PTO once more, and loves the McDole community - the teachers and parents are outstanding.

Rawan Alhammoud - Vice President

Rawan is a biomedical engineer who is currently embracing her favorite role as a stay-at-home mom to her two sons, a kindergartener and a first grader at McDole Elementary. She loves creating a warm and welcoming home where her family celebrates their Syrian and Egyptian heritage through food, traditions, and meaningful family moments.

Passionate about bringing people together, Rawan enjoys creating fun and memorable experiences for everyone. She enjoys traveling, cooking, trying new recipes, and making memories with her family.

She is excited to be part of the McDole Elementary PTO and looks forward to connecting with families, supporting teachers, and helping create a positive and memorable school experience for everyone.

Megan Wagner Cox - Secretary

Megan has been a Kaneland Knight her whole life and she is a KHS Class of 2002 alum. When she is not with her kids, she is a lawyer based out of St. Charles. She and her husband have five children. They have twin 8th grade girls, Autumn & Aurora, who play Flag Football with KYFL, wrestle for Harter and the Knights Wrestling Club, and run cross-country and track/field at Harter. Their 4th grader, Aubryn, did KYSL softball, loves choir at McDole, and is a cheerleader for KYFL. Their oldest son attends school and plays basketball in Chicago and their youngest child, Malik, will be one year old in November 2026. Their family enjoys being a part of Kaneland Country and looks forward to serving the McDole community this year.

Brandon Staker - Treasurer

Brandon is a music teacher at Simmons Middle School in East Aurora. He attended Millikin University where he earned a bachelor's degree in vocal music education. He also works as a stagehand at Paramount Theater and Riveredge Park in Aurora. Brandon lives in Sugar Grove with his wife Christie and their kids Will, Jack, and Kyle. He enjoys coaching his sons in football and baseball, listening to music, and spending time with his family and two dogs.
